T3 Engagement Series

As part of Title III Initiatives, the TEA Emergent Bilingual Support team is thrilled to assist school systems in planning events which provide valuable information to attendees from presenters at the top of their fields across the state of Texas.

Join us virtually via Zoom by hosting watch parties for your parents, families, and community while we provide the experts and interpreters so that attendees can learn and listen in their home languages (eight languages other than English will be provided based on the registration requests).

Community events focus on sharing information or teaching skills from a community partner to benefit parents and families or emergent bilingual students.

Must Haves

Use a sign in sheet to record parents' and families' attendance
Proper A/V equipment(computer/screen/access to internet)
A separate room for each additional language needed by parents and families
Parents fill out the evaluation survey(QR Code))

Things to Consider Offering

Childcare

Get volunteers, have activities and snacks for the kids
Make sure to follow district guidelines

Snacks

Consider having a local restaurant bring in snacks or goodies
Invite families to bring in their own snack/dinner

Transportation may be provided to increase participation.

Funding Explained:

Parent, family and community engagement activities offered are meant to improve the English language skills of emergent bilingual students, assist parents and families in helping their children to improve their academic achievement, and become active participants in the education of their children.
Title III, Part A Funds can be used to provide childcare, snacks, and transportation for this event.

Before the Event Starts

Prep meeting space for each language you are hosting
Charge the device/s used to access the Zoom link
Ensure that speakers are working
Print out an attendance sheet for your records
If offered:

Organize childcare
Buy snacks

At the End of the Event

Must submit the TEA attendance Google Form shared on the day of the presentation
Should ask parents to give feedback to TEA via Google Form shared on the day of the presentation

At the Start of the Event

Have parents sign in for your records as the enter the room
Open the Zoom link for each room of parents
Select the proper Interpretation channel
Assign a staff member to enter questions into the Zoom chat on behalf of the parents in attendance.
